Standardization is a consensus-based process leading to a voluntary

agreement between experts

Standardization is the agreement on voluntary specifications through the consensus-based contribution of all interested parties in the framework of standardization organizations.

Standards should be based on the consolidated results of science, technology and experience.

Standards aim to benefit the general public.

Standards can cover a wide range of topics:

  • specification of products, processes,

  • services or systems;

  • testing procedures;

  • metrologies;

  • terminologies;

  • management systems, etc.
